GEOINTEC conquers the desert: 6,000 hectares mapped with cutting-edge technology limits
When it comes to conquering challenging terrain, GEOINTEC doesn’t mess around. The company has just completed an ambitious topographical survey for two massive solar parks in northern Chile, once again demonstrating why it’s benchmark in the industry.
A project that defies limits
GEOINTEC’s team has mapped over 6,000 hectares using drone-mounted LiDAR technology – a feat that sounds more like science fiction than fieldwork -. This comprehensive topographic survey covered not only the solar park surfaces, but also access roads and electrical evacuation lines, creating a millimeter.precise three-dimensional map.
“it was like assembling a giant puzzle in the desert”
The collected idata will enable analysis of the hydraulic behavior of numerous streams crossing the area, crucial information for protecting both solar infrastructure and access routes.

Technology that flies high

The projects remote location was overcome thanks to cutting-edge technology deployed. Drones equipped with LiDAR FLEW over the arid terrain, capturing millions of data points that were subsequently processed by GEOINTEC’s technical team.
This topographical survey represents a milestone in applying non-invasive technologies for renewable energy projects, setting new standards in Chile’s solar industry.
More than numbers: An international success story
GEOINTEC, headquarters in Madrid, Spain🇪🇸 with over 20 years of experience, has expanded its operations worldwide since 2014. Specialized in solar and wind projects, having analyzed land equivalent to over 70 GW of energy capacity across 50 countries.
