Hybrid wind-solar Feasibility study for large-scale project in Morocco

GEOINTEC leads feasibility study for large-scale hybrid wind-solar project in North Africa

GEOINTEC, with over 23 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, has conducted a comprehensive geotechnical, topographic, and hydrological feasibility study for an ambitious hybrid wind-solar project in a North African desert region spanning more than 70,000 hectares.

specialized in renewable energy since 2014, Geointec has implemented cutting-edge technologies to overcome the significant technical challenges presented by the desert terrain where the project will be developed.

Innovative technologies

Using high-resolution satellite data, GEOINTEC specialists have constructed a topographic model that allows for the evaluation of the hydraulic behavior across the entire project area, including both the power generation zone and the corridors for energy evacuation and connection to a future industrial facility.

«This hybrid project represents a milestone in our international trajectory, as it integrates two complementary technologies under extremely challenging condition»

Simultaneously, we have carried out a geotechnical prefeasibility study for both technologies—solar and wind—. In order to aim of assessing the preliminary design from the perspective of terrain-related risks, a critical factor in desert environments where extreme climatic conditions complicate both the logistics of field campaigns and the accurate collection of technical data.

GEOINTEC’s solid experience in ground engineering for solar and wind parks, substations, and power lines, now expanded to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), positions the company as a strategic partner for the engineering of this type of energy, a crucial component for the viability of large renewable projects.

Headquartered in Madrid, GEOINTEC also operates offices in Santiago (Chile), Lyon (France), and Sydney (Australia), from which it has analyzed land equivalent to over 80 GW in more than 60 countries. Consolidating its position as an international reference in geotechnical studies for renewable energies.
