In 2026, GEOINTEC is running three Pull Out Test (POT) campaigns on solar PV projects in Mexico, totalling over 400 MW across Coahuila and Tamaulipas. We carry out pile driving and load tests for solar trackers and fixed structures, providing field data that supports the foundation design of each plant.

Why the Pull Out Test (POT) matters in PV plants
The foundation is a key element in the structural behaviour of trackers and fixed structures throughout the service life of a photovoltaic plant. Performing a Pull Out Test (POT) on site makes it possible to verify the response of driven piles under real ground conditions, rather than relying solely on theoretical assumptions. This field validation helps reduce uncertainty in the foundation design.
Scope of the campaigns
Our service includes:
- Tension, compression and lateral load tests on driven piles, per ASTM D3689, D1143 and D3966 or the manufacturer’s protocol.
- Campaign design tailored to the site’s geotechnics and layout.
- Integration with the project’s geotechnical, hydrology & hydraulics and topographic studies.
- Results applicable to foundation design from the early stages.

A service designed for the whole project team
For developers, IPPs, EPCs and structural engineers with solar projects in Mexico: we validate the foundation solution for each site in the field. Each campaign is planned according to the specific ground conditions and the plant layout, so that the results of the Pull Out Test (POT) can be incorporated into foundation design from the earliest stages of the project.
Since 2014, GEOINTEC has analysed more than 100 GW of land in over 60 countries, with offices in Madrid, Santiago, London, Sydney and Lyon.
